I got some kind of error message that popped up (red) in the icon tray (the one with the date/time etc.). It was kind of fast and I think it said cannot update, or contact???
I have Update set to ‘Ask when update available’. I like to know when an update is available, and then download it. Some other apps. have update set to manual. Just a personal preference…
Probably the server could not be reached to update your computer.
The problem could be at the Internet traffic, your provider, the avast servers or, most probably, any trouble with your system (firewall, for instance).
The value SuppressUpdateErrorInfo can handle this pop up window.

At what moment did you see that pop-up?
Was it when you booted the system?
It was yesterday (24.1.2005) in the afternoon, and I was working with everything loaded as usual, and no problems. It was definitely not when the system booted.
I wish I could have captured it as an image, but it was gone too fast.
Should perhaps also mention that I got a pop-up this morning (blue) advising of the new AV update 0504-0, which I downloaded with no problems.
Apart from the mystery of the red pop-up everything is working great, and I am still very impressed with the program.

That could certainly explain it, but if I suppress will that not prevent Avast notifying me of new AV updates (like the blue one I got this morning) ? I like the notification feature, and if it was traffic or firewall could I just ignore it, and if it happens again, then take some action…
