popup from Avast activating advanced security features been running on and on

so the pop up says it is activating advanced security features
do not turn off your computer…
it has been running half an hour so far
should it take this long?
or is it stuck?

I had this same problem. Here is how I solved it.
First, shut down the popup by clicking the ‘X’.
Then, open your Avast Premium Security. You should see a green Update button. Click that to install the update that the popup was trying to do. It will only take a couple of minutes. Then Restart your computer. After the restart, you should no longer see the ‘Avast activating advanced security features’ popup.
