popup still & FW interest

Hi 2 things
1), my thinking that my avast is running fine becuz the main screen says everything is up to date even though the popup still says my definitions are out of date OR this other pg that says AVAST reports that it’s out of date?
–=-iv tried repairs and re installing, but no effect

  1. Today I stated seeing this alert from pc tools firewall plus. I don’t see a ‘repair’ option on the uninstall screen. I thought sine many here have inside knowledge on certain free programs, maybe someone knows what is up with the free firewall I use

Technically this may or not be a new topic, cuz the avast pop up Q was mentioned earlier. BUT the fw thing is new, and it might Go away on its own. idk

HijackThis is not a security program, it is a diagnostic tool … it is also outdated and not used anymore

then i guess all i use is the free avast and pc tools firewall

See if that fixes the problem.

If that dont work … delete all avast rules in your firewall, reboot and create new rules when firewall ask

well i have avast. and today i got this message after a popup
i think i ran updates yesterday, idk

i’ll keep in mind the clean install if the ups persists

i hope cast is a removal tool… otherwise i dont have one

imo you should look for another firewall, PC Tools was bought by Symantec (Norton) some years ago and has been left to wither and die.

As the defs appear to be out of date then try to jump start them by installing the latest defs https://www.avast.com/en-gb/download-update

As far as Comodo Firewall goes I have a Win7x64 and I’m running CFW v5.12
without any problems. We have one user with an XP SP3 running CFW v3.14.
If you decide on CFW use extreme caution to install only the firewall and nothing else.

i had COMODO before pctools

it had stopped working awhile ago i thought oh well
