Good morning to all:
I need your help…
I´m using Avast antivirus in my PC, but I can’t update the pattern virus because I don´t know what ports are used in process update.

What are this ports ??

You shouldn’t need to know the ports to be able to update, unless of course you are tightening your firewall rules, etc.

However the avast update uses port 80, see image of my firewall log and you will see avast.setup connecting to the downloadxxx.avast.com where xxx is one of the download servers outbound TCP, remote port HTTP (80).

You will see the logs for DNS but that is to get the IP address for the downloadxxx.avast.com domain and is normal for all connections.

I suspect that you may not be asking for this though, rather the IP addresses and that it an entirely different ball game.

Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
What avast! version? Home or Pro version?
Do you use a firewall? Which one?
Is avast.setup allowed to connect and update avast?

version home, and, in my office use firewall and close all ports… thanks ;D

I trust you have been able configure the firewall, strange to close all ports.

If you are using avast 4 home (home, non-commercial use) in an office then you should be using the Pro version.

So… how do you connect if you close all ports… how can you reach the Internet?
avast.setup must connect in order to update. It’s a temporary file created to update avast.

and … download patern virus ??

what address ??

I assumed that he has a server with adminstration restriction. Only IP or address that had been set to pass the firewall can connect to internet.

The addresses are listed in the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\servers.def file.
They use port 80 to download the update.
