Possible battery issue

My suspicions are not real scientific but when I wake up in the morning I start with a fully charged phone. I have a routine of what I do. It takes about an hour and uses about 10% of my battery. After installing Avast the same process took me down about 20%. To me that is a real concern. I did install the firewall. Most of what I do in the morning is browse the internet, news sites etc. Nothing too unusual. So there is a possibility it uses a lot of battery while browsing?

I uninstalled the app and would like more info. Also would like a “manual” on setup if available.

The help file is there and the manuals are being finished (at least the translated ones).

Thank you for the link. You have no comments on the battery issue?

Hi Cindy74,

try turning off the Web Shield and see if it makes any difference. It seems you do a lot of browsing in the morning so sure, it might consume a bit more battery since the Web Shield is actually doing something  But it seems really weird that it should double the consumption.

Well, according our measures the whole suite in work (scanning files, scanning installed apps, doing webshield work, etc.) at once will consume about 4% of battery charge power per hour. But in most cases, when AMS is in passive mode (so is doing nothing extensive, only waiting for possible threats) it takes less than 1% per day; you can just install any battery or power management app and you can see which part of device is so power-hungry

With web shield turned off I don’t seem to have a problem. I will turn it back on tomorrow morning to re-visit battery usage with web shield. Will let you know.

I love the firewall.

I ran it with web shield today and it appears everything is fine. The battery drain appears to have been associated with something else.

Glad to hear that

The support text needs an update. Since the first beta, we’re using it on Thrive, android 3.2.

Sorry. Never mind. I just posted it in the FAQ thread which I just saw.

Would like to jump on the battery issue topic:
Have switched from Theftaware to avast, on 31. Dec 2011.
Since then i did have 2 times surprise in the morning with battery complete empty.
Never had that before.
No other changes done except regular updates of installed apps.

How can i proceed to find root-cause ?

Hi,

I think that Reinhard found a possible issue resulting in increased battery usage. Will be fixed in the next update, so until then just hold on

That is really good news. thanks for info.
