possible to hide avast

is possible to hide avast tray icon?
like the old version avast32 v3

is so light avast , that u can forget it, it has an automatic update…

Hey avast team! It´ll be a good feature… ;D
By the way, mantra, which OS do you use? I know you´re a “old” member at these foruns but I don´t remember :wink:

i have 2 pc
A P3 600 256mb i use Windows98se

a p4 2800 1gb of ram Windows2k

avast32 v3 has this feature…is nice because avast is so fast that u can forget it

i think there is a bug because

avast4.ini
[UserInterface]
Bitmaps=images
GradientFont=Times New Roman
ErrorDlgTimeout=10000
RespondTimeout=30
EnableSkins=0
ShowSplash=0
HomePage0409=http://www.avast.com/
HomePage0405=http://www.asw.cz/czech/
ResidentBalloonShown=1
VRDBBalloonShown=1
ShowSpecialTasks=1

if u setup the last 3 , to 0 u sould hide the icons…

In Windows 2000 you can ‘hide’ some icons in system tray but I think you want more than this (maybe Tray Wizard 4.02 at http://www.traywizard.com/tw402.exe).
In Windows 98 you can try Tray Manager 2.0 at ftp://ftp.zdnet.com/acq/downloads/pub/zd/PCMag/traymgr.zip

Although, as you describe, seems to be a bug… :frowning:

did u try avast32 v3…??

OK guys Im back.

To answer your questions,

To hide the avast tray icon, add the following line to the [AAVM] section of avast4.ini:

ShowTaskbarIcon=0

To prevent the avast tray icon from spinning, add the following line to the [AAVM] section of avast4.ini:

AnimateIcon=0

Thats it!

Hope this helps,
Vlk

thanks VLK

btw. “ShowSpecialTasks” is useful only in Professional Edition because it turns on/off visibility of screen saver and ashQuick tasks in enhanced user interface…

avast4.ini. where the hell is it. i,ve looked through the avast directory and can,t find it. i did read you can create it but i don,t know how to do that either.also dont know how to add a line if and when i do find it

…\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA
(most likely to be C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA) :wink:

ok checked inside all the folders under DATA. i,ve only got an INTEG folder with AVAST INT inside it and thats all.

If you have avast! installed, you must have the file avast4.ini.
Try to search a little… ;D
