Possible URL:Mal false possitive after opening Firefox

Hello.

I just opened my Firefox web browser today, and Avast’s web shield threw me almost immediately an alert of an URL:Mal being blocked at the default homepage. The blocked address was “push.services.mozilla.com”, which if I’m not mistaken is a legitimate Mozilla’s address, so it looks pretty weird to me.

I’m scanning my PC in case there is some kind of malware, but so far nothing has been found, and it is highly unlikely it will because I haven’t visited any fishy websites or downloaded any add ons or programs recently. The alert only appeared once and besides that the browser seems to be working properly. Could it be a false possitive?

Thanks for your help.

You can report a suspected FP (File/Website) here: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php

Hi Asyn.

I just did that after reading other recent posts here about pretty similar issues. I guess I’ll just have to wait Avast’s team response for now.

Thank you anyway.

I got this problem as well. It’s reduced the functionality of some sites I regular. Certain navigation functions have stopped working, as well as additional text popups when you hover over key terms.

Hi guys, I forwarded it, let’s see…

it should be fixed now

Thanks Martin.

Hard to say right now. Still got the reduced site functionality after updating, and I can’t find where the URL would listed by Avast to override it.

Update Avast VPS manually or just reboot your system.

No luck.

Hello again.

My FP request was acknowledged and marked as fixed some hours ago. I just started my laptop, opened Firefox, and the web shield alert didn’t appear again, so at least it seems the bug has been indeed solved for me.

Hi Mauricio, sounds good. Thanks for the feedback.

Okay it seems to be working fine now for me too.
