Pre Boot Scan Problems

Avast 2015 PRO installation on C: drive 2 weeks old

Deep Scan: On D: drive 76 viruses, all copies of same file *.jpg of backed up Joomla sites(all same site) PHP:Exploit
virus

Pre Boot scan scheduled after next boot

After Scanning D: drive [20%]

DELETE: Error 0xc0000035 {Object name already exists}

Keep pressing: 6 Delete All

Error comes back every time

Keep key 6 down for 5 minutes keeps on scrolling Error and menu

Seems to never end.

What is wrong?
I’m afraid that’s quite a generic error so I’m unable to say why it happened.
Could you please attach the following two files:
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\aswBoot.log
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\aswBoot.txt

I’m not saying they will necessarily show the cause, but they do contain some more detail, so they can help.
Thanks.

I have no log or report directory :frowning:

Attach Malwarebytes and Farbar Recovery Scan Tool logs in your next reply here

It’s a hidden folder. Make sure you have the correct folder settings.

I had Show Hidden Folders and Files already ON! ENABLED

I am no expert in this! But I think nothing unusual detected?

I concur with that, the system looks clean

Is it a backup package that is being detected ?

My system has problem with Graphical Driver (NVIDIA) Windows 8 says, sometimes mouse moves funny than system freezes, hard reboot required. Also MSN Messenger keeps asking to upgrade to Skype, which I have done already, MSN not deinstalled some how by update upgrade to Skype. Lots of spontaneous reboots too!

It may well be worth updating to 8.1 as that does clear a few graphic type errors

What do you mean? I have no third party backup system by the way

As it was on a separate partition I was wondering whether they were the original images or compressed back up images

It are indeed uncompressed (former Windows 8.1 from FileHistory Control Panel) Backup System Images on external 1 Tb HD, that was still attached during scan, usually I disconnect and unplug power to save HD

It may be worth checking one of the image files at virus total as a double check

Go to Virustotal
Click Choose File and navigate to an image file on the external HDD and select it
Then press scan it

Once it has completed could you copy the link and post it here

I will do that in a couple of weeks, I have perhaps business with those files, who are from two different W 8.1 computers by the way, cannot give them out of my hands yet

Today first time that ext. HD was attached to this problem W 8 build by the way, cannot be the problem

The graphic driver problems may be due to not having 8.1 on this system

OK thanks, which is weird though, why would Windows 8 not work correctly with updated genuine NVIDIA graphic drivers?

But please keep on target: Pre Boot Scan Problems? Any ideas based on all info in this thread?

Use the latest version of the OS, AV and Drivers. Doing anything else is asking for problems.

Not overly sure what the problem is unless you are able to scan one of the image files at virus total

Windows 8 is still supported with Microsoft Updates! Moreover had most severe problems with Update / Upgrade (of Windows 8 from DVD) from Windows Store to Windows 8.1 on one computer, other computer not, only difference Microsoft Account I was logged in with during Upgrade, the problem Windows 8.1 did not look like real Windows 8.1 and did not behave and work like real Windows 8.1.

Both computers (problems and no problems) where secured with Avast 2015 Internet Security (out-of-the-box default settings)
