I just purchased and installed Premier yesterday. using xp and outlook express.
When I check my email there is no mail shield toolbar or options to interact with my mail. I have some messages that are flagged in the subject as spam but there is no way to mark them as not spam or to add messages as spam. I was using ZA but did a clean removal.
Called tech support and got the $179 run around and hung up on. Will Avast work with OE? and if so How do I get the mail shield to work to remove spam.
This is an important function for me and If I cant get it to work will have to cancel and switch back.
Thanks
This is an important function for me and If I cant get it to work will have to cancel and switch back. You already have a virus/spamfilter in your SBC mail .....
When I check my email there is no mail shield toolbar or options to interact with my mail. Not 100% sure, but possible that this is only for MS outlook .....and not outlook express http://www.diffen.com/difference/Microsoft_Outlook_vs_Outlook_Express
I’m not using sbcglobal for my mail…
And your other mail provider is?..all (most ) mail providers have virus/spamfilter that you can access from webmail login
Avast works with OE, but I believe it is limited in what can be done with OE6 (the latest version) as it is very old, I don’t know if all features would work with it.
I don’t use it so I haven’t any personal experience of it. Check this FAQ article and see if it helps http://www.avast.com/en-gb/faq.php?article=AVKB44#idt_407.
my mail comes through a private server with no filtering…
the faqs say it will work with OE, and it seems to be partially working but doesn’t seem to be fully integrated as there is no toolbar or options to add things to whitelist or blacklist…
Pondus has been doing some searching and this tends to agree that it doesn’t work with OE6, probably for the reasons mentioned OE hasn’t got the functionality to allow integration.
See this information on how the antispam works within MS Outlook - http://www.advantage77.com/2012/12/06/how-to-properly-use-the-avast-antispam-filter-for-outlook/.
I don’t know if using this information you can see if there is anything in the OE settings that is loosely related.
You said there is a SPAM marking in the email Subject, is that avast spam as that is how it is meant to be marked ?
There is some information about white listing I don’t know if that method works in OE6.
