prevent avast from modifying config.nt

Hello everyone,

A newbie signing up…

My appologies if this has alredy been asked (couldn’t find it though):
Is there a way to prevent Avast from modifying the CONFIG.NT file and adding the device=… line to cuase you know what?
I did put “rem” in the file manually and the turned off scanning for DOS apps in Avast, but after a while (I assume after some update), the line was clean (without REM) again. How can I turn it off?

Why do you want to turn it off? It will only compromise the security of your system.

I’m aware of that, but with the line there I cannot run any DOS apps, which are quite essential for my business (not that I’m happy with it, but I have no choice)

There was a problem with DOS (16bit applications) with earlier versions of Avast. But 4.5.549 should work fine. Do you have the latest build?

Prince, that was my ‘problem’ for more than one year ago and so I joined avast 8)

Can you post the contents of these Windows Registry keys in your system?

I think we can workaround this withou loosing protection… :wink:
Do you use XP 64bits? Which is your processor?
