Printer problems inc Active DDS

Probably nothing to do with avast, but…

My new printer’s stopped working. Lexmark X3470. It was fine until I decided I needed to scan for the first time. couldn’t make the scan work so tried reinstalling from the disc and then the Lexmark site. And now the printer doesn’t print either.

I’ve sent an email to Lexmark, but in the meantime, whilst playing I notice that ‘Find Printer’ brings up ‘Active Directory Domain Service is unavailable’. Anyone know if this is linked and what I can do about it.

(I’m using a new and far from trouble-free IQON Vista.)

Thanks for any help…

Are the drivers for Vista?
Control Panel > System > Device manager > is there any problem with drivers?

Well I’ve gone into Device Manager. Then what do I do? There’s nothing obvious there to click on.

The driver did claim to be a Vista driver on the lexmark website.

Isn’t it any interrogation point there? (?)
If you go to Printers folder into Control Panel, is your printer correctly installed, can you ‘update’ the driver of it?
