Privacy setting menu missing

I updated to v22.10 just now, and I noticed that I don’t have the Privacy settings menu (which just allows you to turn on the Password Manager within Avast) on my new/current laptop (first image) but I have it on my old laptop after also updating to v22.10 (second image).

Anyone know what’s up here?

It shows up in my Free version.
Try a repair and see if that fixes it.

I have the free version as well.

Tried a repair, didn’t change anything. Didn’t even ask me to restart, which suggests it didn’t find anything wrong.

I’ll wait for next month’s update to see if it adds it in. If not i’ll remove and do a fresh install.

Always worth doing a restart after the Repair, if there were any changes/fix, then a restart should apply any changes made.

Restarted, still not there.

On a related note, the “Just do a restart just in case” mantra needs to be de-emphasized.

For the sake of a minute, which may or may not be needed, what it does is clarify.

If after a Repair and a restart the problem still exists then you are left looking at other options such as a fresh install which you have mentioned.

Like Bob the Privacy section shows in my Avast UI.

It’s not always a minute. Most of the time at best restarting is a nuisance that isn’t always needed, especially in this case since if a restart is needed after a repair install, Avast will tell you that’s the case. It didn’t for me this time. At worst I get a ten minute anxiety attack when my laptop takes its sweet time turning on and then everything is super slow as it’s starting up.

As far as your screenshot attachment, im’ able to see the Privacy menu that you show from the main Avast screen, which is what your picture is of. What i’m referring to is from the settings menu (click settings and see if you get it on the left side).

Here’s the screenshot from my system. I’m sure David’s reflects the same options.

Have you verified that Password Manager is still installed?

I don’t have it installed and my Avast Free doesn’t show the privacy tab in settings.

It’s possible that I don’t, and if that’s the case then it makes sense. However, I don’t remember specifically installing it on my other laptop either, and it shows up there, though I last clean installed Avast on that computer at least 6-7 years ago, so I can’t really remember what I did or didn’t select.

Is there a way to see if Password Manager is or isn’t installed like I can with, for example, the Firewall?

In Programs and Features you can choose to ‘change’ Avast. It will list all installed components and you can make alterations.

Hi,

In Avast Free, if you go to Menu >Settings and don’t see “Privacy”, that is because you do not have any of the paid Avast components or the Avast Passwords component enabled.
Please restart Windows after enabling the Avast Passwords(old) component, and you should see “Privacy” (in Menu > Settings).
