So yeah i decided to try that sweet sweet PC Tools Firewall Plus after i removed Privatefirewall i removed the regs and files that was left over… But 1 reg and 1 folder was left and cant be not deleted by me an administrator… and its also being deleted in admin right (proof its has the shield next to it).
Folder : Its in Windows system in filerep… something like that. Its contain pwipf6.sys and informations files and another that i dont remember.
So i ask to you all who used privatefirewall why cant i delete those files ? Does its will harm my PC Tools even if it is uninstalled or its will just stand here by next installation of privatefirewall without being usefull and removable ?
If you had done a little investigating as I did, you would have noticed that the removal tool comes directly from
the manufacturer.
I guess you’ll find out after you remove the remainder of Private FV if your current firewall is working properly.
If it is, then your set if not, remove and re-install.
Thank you bob but can you respond me why the version are not matching with my privatefirewall that i did uninstall… (7.0.24.8.) is my privatefirewall and look the version of the removal tool… Wondering if it is exist a pf7 for them or pf6 just remove pf7 too ?
Sorry, don’t have a clue and I’m not a user of either of those firewalls.
Perfectly happy with the one that comes with Win 7.
Maybe you’ll need to do a little research or contact the company itself.
But should i give a try to that one ? Its wont delete any others thing than Privatefirewall files ? I hope… dont want this to touch my monster computer files.
You cant delet those legacy keys in the registry god knows iv tried, removal tools and all, i think there are two from privatefirewall in there plus iv got a few from online armor and outpost.
Iv not found anything yet that will allow me to delet legacy keys, i even run a special script which basically allows me to delet whatever i like with a simple right click take ownership but that is no good either.
It isn’t impossible to delete them, you have to take ownership of the registry key, but essentially this is a waste of time.
Legacy keys are under the control of the OS and in its own sweet time it will get rid of them. Other Legacy keys for PC Tools Firewall will get created and the two shouldn’t conflict.
Iv tried taking ownership of the key’s David but im still not allowed, even tried running Regedt32 first to give myself permission, no go ???
Doesn’t matter, like you said in there own time they’ll go.
