Pro Edition revert to Home?

When the trial of the Pro expires, does it automatically revert to the Home, or is it necessary to uninstall it first?
Thanks,
Jerry

No, but it does convert itself to Home Edition when you enter Home Edition registration key.

It will be necessary to register for the home version so you can get a registration key, which once you receive it by email, you enter in the about avast, License Key button. Doing this will revert to the home version, not sure if you need to be on-lin when you enter the home registration key so it can revert to the home versions.

However, you could if you wanted download the home version, uninstall the pro version, reboot, install the home version and reboot. I think you can see which is easier.

Complete the avast! 4 Home Registration form and you will receive an email from register @ avast.com (without the spaces) with your registration key.

After the trial period you won’t be able to update.
The resident protection will be available, as far I know, but you can’t update the virus database.
When you add the Home registration key, you will be able to update.

Thanks a lot. I have a key that is still valid, I think.
Avast has always been my fall back AV, but I have never used the Pro version. My current AV on my laptop will expire in July, so I thought I would try the Pro.

I wonder if there will be a new version by then? Avast has been making some improvements.

A couple of years ago I put Avast Home on my daughter’s computer. It has done well, and no problems. My son-in-law wanted to try a well known AV suite. He liked it until he had major problems with Outlook. Now he has gone back to Avast Home, and it is working well as always.

I have put Avast Home on a couple of other computers belonging to friends, and it has always given complete satisfaction, as it has for me when I have used it.

Any estimate when the new version, now in beta, will be out?

Best,
Jerry

Your welcome.

The current beta, 4.7.925 has been running for about a week and in the past beta versions have run for a couple of weeks or so before release (providing there are no major issues). So I suggest you watch the current beta topic and the forum in general as it will be here you will find out first.

These are small updates to the program which are also listed in the beta topic http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=25697.0.

Thanks, David.
