Pro Edition showing as home.

I used to have the Home Edition before purchasing the pro. license. As I gathered somewhere, I can just enter the pro serial to convert the Home to Pro. However, after doing so and seeing Avast update itself and prompted me to restart, the about box and the splash screen was still showing as Home edition.

Thinking it was a mistake, I uninstalled Avast and re-installed from scratch using the pro installer with the same result. I can see my key on the the about section without the characters after the dash. Is this normal?

I’m running Vista ultimate. Is there anything I’m missing?

Did you restart, as requested?

Yes. I restarted after entering the key on the Home edition and also restarted after installing the Pro. ed. from scratch.

So, what does the About box exactly show - the correct key you’ve entered, but avast! Home next to that?

It is normal not to see the complete license key.

Though I have no idea why the conversion isn’t working, presumably your aren’t getting any license key error, invalid, etc. after entering the Pro key ?

You could try a clean reinstall:
Download the latest Pro version of avast and save it to your HDD (if you didn’t save it before), somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall.

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD.

    1. Now uninstall (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility, reboot. If step 1 failed it may be necessary to run this from safe mode, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
