First I get a countdown to expiration ending today on 2-year Pro purchased 1/5/10 - so 2+ months early.
So I enter the license file today and since the upgrade I have no internet connection. I’m on another computer. And there is no Avast toolbar in Outlook any longer.
I have zero tech vocab so please make this simple - HOW DO I GET MY INTERNET CONNECTION BACK TODAY/NOW.
Avast Pro Antivirus v 6.0.1289
Windows Vista
Internet Explorer
I purchased Avast Professional 4 in Jan 2010 and have been using that ever since. This week started getting countdown notice that it was going to expire and as of today it’s no longer working. Doesn’t this Pro package include email and internet protection?
I think my firewall is Windows Defender.
Why would my program be expiring 2+ months ahead of the 2-year deadline?
I don’t get it. What license file did you enter today? Don’t you have it there, for as long as since 2010JAN05? Or did you purchase a renewal?
and since the upgrade I have no internet connection.
Which upgrade? Do you mean the latest database / definitions update? A program version update?
Did you change anything about the license, the database or the specific edition of Avast (from Pro to Free or to AIS)?
Even if, for an unknown reason, your license finishes today, you should have been receiving some kind of notification since several days (even weeks) ago.
I'm on another computer. And there is no Avast toolbar in Outlook any longer.
So, maybe you “upgraded” your Avast edition to a different one (to Avast Free)?

If you would know which firewall you have, then I would suggest deleting the relevant firewall rules and creating them again.
But since you don’t know (and it seems you are far from knowing it, no offense) I would suggest looking for some friend that has a better general idea about this type of things.
