problem 42040

Hello

I’m a dutch guy, and I have to make the computer of my Grandma.
so I installed win98 an some stuff too,
but then I installed avast Home.
I resgistered on the name of my grandma.
but when i’ll try to scan I get a pop-up screen with:
it was dutch, so i try to translate :stuck_out_tongue:

VPS-file was deleted. The scanning is canceled with a (bug?) 42020 = VPS-file was deleted

what can I do?! ???
please help me. :-
please, mail the answer to ali.teus@wanadoo.nl

Greetings from Krieky

Do a repair of Avast and see if that solves it.

start > contronl panel > add/remove > Avast > change/delete > repair

yeah… it is solved

now, I have a new problem.
avast wont start.
if windows start up, than is see the A- and the I circles in my (taskbalk?)

but by the A circle stand a sign (a little circle with a line from left-up to right-down)

and there are 0 providers

WHAT CAN I DO?!

Ok, seems silly but you can redo the repair…
But, why are you going into this?

Do you have any other antivirus installed in your computer?
Did you have in the past? Which one?
Do you use a firewall? Which one?

repair doesn’t help…
I only have a firewall in my alcatel speedtouch 510i …
sometime it works, but mostely not…

This is Win98? What happens if you double click the (a) ball tray icon?

i see the screen with no provideders

If you go to the section where the repair is, and you choose “change” can you add/remove providers from there?
Does Avast start if you go to start > programs > Avast ?

ps: If you have troubles with English, just let me know. I can help you with the translation if needed.

no that’s not the point.
sometime avast works really fine, but otherwise it can chance…
