HI,
I have installed the ADNM(1) and net clients (30+) for my environment. Is it a good practice to open the port for RPC for the client so that I can connect to there chest through the admin console?
Also, what all of you will do when you are notified that the workstation was infected? Connect to the clients’ chest, delete the files and mark them clean in the console?
Thanks for the answers.
Jerald
Welcome to the forum jeraldleung,
Usually you don’t have to open the port for remote chest features (it usually does it for you during installation), but if you find that the windows firewall is blocking it you can certainly do so, and this post might help you: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=59940.msg506847#msg506847
If I find a workstation is infected, yes I’ll access the chest remotely, check the files that were reported to see if they look like FP’s or otherwise and either delete them if I know they’re just viruses, or I’ll send FP files to avast to update their detections.
Once that’s all done, I’ll mark them clean again.
In some special cases, I’ll remote into the computer and take a further look, or visit with the computer personally if needed.
