Hi guys,
Have been sent to this section of the forums after having posted under the avast free help section.
Since the latest update to avast I have encountered a problem where I can no longer get to my isp’s homepage unless I disable the web shield. I can not even ping the isp unless shield is off.
I have no other issues reaching any other sites with shield on.
ISP www.spark.co.nz can no longer reach.
Here is a link to the a video of the problem happening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDlLIsTlAmw
As this issue was not able to be resolved I have been asked to come here and post my log files.
Makes no difference which browser I use, from the cmd prompt I cant even ping the site unless turning off the webshield.
Have removed all the avast listings in zonealarm and it makes no difference
Not using a proxy but have used a vpn client in the past
Have flushed the dns and renewed it, also have reset the netsh winsoc.
Tried going through different dns servers to see if that would work but it didn’t
It really is weird as \I would expect wholesale blocking if it was Avast rather than just one or two web sites. Although if you disable webshield it then allows access… Weird.
I will have a thunk about this
I assume there is still no access ?
Yep I agree it’s very strange, I have never come across this before in my 20 odd years of computing experiences and I have come across some strange problems in my time from building systems to removing viruses etc.
Still no access after the FRST fix.
Ok by accident I have a clue to what’s going on and I can reach the site.
If I type http://www.spark.co.nz/ it wont work, which is the link a google search will give you for spark nz.
But if I type https://www.spark.co.nz I lets me go there, the difference being a secure link rather than standard link
