Problem after updating to 5.0.507

Hello everyone

I got problems after updating to 5.0.507 Avast Home edition. Updating directly via Avast GUI.
My system hung while I was browsing the internet with Firefox or Chrome.
I never had this kind of problem with the earlier version Avast 5.0 (sorry I forgot the ‘number’) or 4.8
I had to unistall it because I need internet for my works. I forgot to check the log.
But again I had no problem before the 5.0.507 version.
I’ve been using Avast for years, since Avast 4. I’m a huge fan of Avast :slight_smile:

I’ve redownloaded 5.0.507 so I’ll do clean install later. I’m using Avira for a while.

Mine : XP SP3, CIS (firewall + defence+ only), FF 3.6.3, Chrome 4 stable.
No other security softwares running, MBAM or SAS for scan only.

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
  2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
  3. Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
  4. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
  5. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
  6. Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro.
  7. Check and post the results.
