Hello, I just uninstalled my old antivirus (avira) to get avast but when I try to lunch the file I just downloaded it says: “avast_free_antivirus_setup_online is not a valid win32 application”
I saw already other topics like that but I cant find a solution…I downloaded it with Chrome, I’m using Windows 7 64 bit… any suggestion?
First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AVs.

- Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
- Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
- Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
thank you I managed to installing it after downloaded directly from the link, I’ve found it also into another topic, sorry for the question!
Can I ask you one more thing?
I installed it mainly to use the utility to block websites, but I’m wondering if there is a way to prevent it to being disabled, maybe setting a password only to that utility… I found the way to put a password but it includes various area of the antivirus…
thanks for your time!
(moreover the block sites utility isnt working )
Have you rebooted since installing?
yes, it just wont work… I still can access the websites I blocked
Note: https won’t work.
Why isn’t it working (aside from the mentioned https), can you give some examples of what you are trying to block ?
Post what it is that you are copying into the avastUI > Tools > Site Blocking > URLs to block - for this purpose break links (as we don’t know why you are blocking them), change http to hXXp as this stops the link being clickable in the forum. The remainder of the url should be as you have entered it.
