***ntfs.sys address f763e5d3 base atf763b000, datestamp41107eea

or

***stop: 0x000000d1 /0x3d61734a,0x00000002, 0x00000000,0xef022191)

It also suggest to change settings on bios like shadowing and caching of the memory but nothing change

after that the only button of my pc worling is the power off.
Probably it is avast that cause this problem, someone know how to fix it plesase?

This error is mostly a driver problem/conflict.
Only in rare occassions it is a hardware failure.
Did you install the motherboard drivers right afters installing Windows and before installing anything else? If not, start all over again.

I installed the most up to date driver and before anything…
scandisk semms to be ok…

can it be a conflict with outpost firewall?

Hi the error STOP 0x000000d1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
This is one of the most common STOP errors. The error typically occurs when a driver tries to access an improper memory address. Check for unsigned drivers, and be especially suspicious of recently installed or updated antivirus programs (but because you had this trouble before you installed avast, this is not the problem in your case) disk utilities and backup programs, which may install a faulty file-system filter driver.

Are you running Windows 2000?

I’m running xp sp2
I installed avast on the old XP and started to have problem… so I decided to format everything… reinstalling xp… driver…avast antivirus and firewall

Well, the error in ntfs.sys seems like a problem with the drive (or filesystem) - but filtnt.sys is indeed part of Outpost firewall. Personally, I tried the (free) Outpost on WinXP for a while and encountered similar crashes - i.e. I’d say Outpost may be the cause.

Hi then just read top part of post as this problem with all the other numbers coming up normally apply to 2000.

So it has to do with some you installed when you had the other antivirus program installed, run a search putting in everything you have removed and see if any of them come up, because i have uninstalled programs, ran a search and still found bits of it left. if you do delete it.

It’s hard to say but, from a very close friend that works with software development, many programs are crashing with Outpost firewall as it seems does not follow HTTP full complaince :stuck_out_tongue:

Kind of a similar problem with outpost.

Hi

I’ve been having a similar problem, although I don’t get a blue screen, my PC just freezes for a second and restarts on its own.

I am running Windows XP SP2.

This error seems to occur mainly when I am gaming on-line or on LAN (every game I have played - Battlefield 2, Warcraft 3, GTA:SA On line, etc.). After the restart, I receive a System Error; it states:

“Error code 0000009c, parameter1 00000004, parameter2 8054d370, parameter3 b2000000, parameter4 00070f0f.”

So I check the Event Viewer and find that just before the restart there is a Tcpip Warning; it states:

“TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.”

Thereafter there is a SaveDump and my PC restarts :frowning:

So I went into command prompt and did a “Netstat -no” to check what programs were currently harvesting my Tcpip connection. Turns out Avast’s Web Scanner (can’t recall background process name) was to blame with over 10 concurrent connection attempts that were blocked by Windows’ Tcpip connection security limit.

Perhaps my detective work is all in vain and it is something else entirely. All I know, however, is that after ending the Avast! Web Scanner process, my problems ceased.

Can anyone help me out with this? Is there a bug or a fix or do I stupidly have some setting wrong?

WebShield (ashWebSv.exe) scans the connections so you’re ‘seeing’ it connecting when, in fact, other programs are due to starting the connection.
Which programs that connect the Internet are you using when this happens? You can use TCPView (from www.sysinternals.com) to see what is connecting.
Are you clean, I mean, non-virus infected? Did you scan with avast and ewido?

Thanks for the response.

I am indeed clean. No spy-ware and no virii.

See what I though at first was that it was either firefox or mirc causing the trouble. Then I remembered that I had the same problem at a LAN i went to two weeks ago (was playing Warcraft 3 at the time of random restart), so that takes me back to square one. Another interesting thing I forgot to add was that when this first started happening I did a reinstall of Windows XP. Sure enough; it continues to this day. I think what I will try today is to disconnect from the internet completely and LAN whilst using TCPView. See if that sheds any light on the problem.

Thanks again.
