Have Both a Window 7 PC and Window XP SP2 PC’s. Had Avast 4.8 installed on both and was able to open remote desktop connections between the two PC’s…Have installed Version 5.0 over 4.8 and now when I connect to remote desktop… the Desktop Screen goes blank after login and will not connect. Any changes that I can make or do I need to uninstall and reinstall 4.8.

Running avast version 5.0.396…Will Updating to 5.0.418 correct the problem
Innstalled new release 5.0.418 and still unable to connect to remote desktop. Was advised to go to security settings by pc buddy of mine and turn on windows firewall… still remote desktop crashes… uninstall 5.0.418 and able to connect perfectly…where can i redownload Avast version 4.8
Sorry you are still having this problem. To install the old version, the installer is available from filehippo. Generally speaking, filehippo has many older versions of software on their site. Link is here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/6635/

It’s probably a bit late asking now, but did you try uninstalling just the behaviour shield, or turning off individual shields? Would be interesting to see whether the problem could be narrowed down.
Went with Avast 4.8 on the Windows Xp Pc and I am now able to remote from the pc running Windows 7 and with Avast 5.0.418 to the other PC Avast 4.8
It would be nice to hear Alwil tech duplicate your scenario, as maybe there is a silly setting that needs checked/unchecked with 2 PCs and 2 versions of Avast, yet both local to its unit.
