Problem in displaying newest version

Both pcs display in GUI latest update as 7.0,1483 and second pc as 6.0.1483. Tried repair on both, but it didn’t help, so I presume, it’s server issue?

Not a server issue as the build number at the end .1483 isn’t in either avast 6 or 7.

I would suggest that you do a clean install of avast 8.0.1483 on both systems since a repair failed to resolve the problem.

You don’t say what avast version you are using free/pro/ais, this assumes avast free:

  • Download the latest version of avast, 8.0.1483 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn’t save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.

  • Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for all versions).

    1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility, it will reguest it be run from safe mode (and will handle the boot into safe mode), first for 6.x, 7.x if previously installed and then for 8.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.

No, I am not reinstalling version 7 on this pc, and version 6 on my netbook. This all happened once the newest 8.0.1483 version was aired today, so it is kind of weird to display on BOTH pcs with different avast free versions.

And I am not installing version 8 yet.

Well lets put it this way your avast 6 and 7 aren’t right as they appear to have some changes that make avast think that you have build .1483.

Ah…no no, you don’t understand. I meant for example - I have version 6.0.1367 and it is stated there it is the version. But in maintenance update it states my version is 6.1367 and the latest one to download is 6.0.1483 instead of 8.01483.

And the same states with version 7 that there is latest update 7.0.1483 to download

Just update, problem solved.

That is not a solution to my liking, but thank you anyway. I’ll think about it.

Well, that’s up to you anyway.
But in fact that’s the only solution, else you’ve to ignore it.

Well, it’s not a vital thing in avast. I’ll endure it, until I make my mind for newest version (I am bit afraid after experiences of trying put version 7 into my netbook with XP SP3)

I’m also on XP SP3 (and David too) and V8 runs great. If you should need our help let us know.

I will when the time will come. Thank you for kind offer

OK. You’re welcome.

I am also a happy user of Avast! 8.0.1482 Internet Security and running under XP Spk3 ;D No problems whatsoever.

Well contrary to what it is indicating there is no build .1483 in those versions and if you did update you would be on 8.0.1483 not 6.0.x or 7.0.x with that build number.

Then you should update as well.
