Problem playing video after latest update

The latest avast update from June 26, 2017 has made it nearly impossible for me to view video online…even on my own website. Not good since I teach piano online via video, audio and text. Makes no difference whether “Enable Hardware-Assisted Virtualization” is checked. All is EXTREMELY SLOW now, and unusable. I even had trouble getting this forum to load.

Can I ROLL BACK to the previous version, or is there some other ‘fix’ that might work. I’ve been an Avast customer for years, and have it on all the PCs for my family. Suddenly, this latest update has KILLED our ability to freely use the web.

Suggestions?

What is your operating system ?

There have been some issues with those on XP and Vista, but it wasn’t effecting everyone with those OSes.

I have only experienced the issue a couple of times on my XP Pro SP3 system and have resolved it by temporarily disabling https scanning in the web shield settings.

If you aren’t using XP or Vista Try an avast Repair, Control Panel, Programs & Features, Change - Repair.

Hi DavidR,
Thanks for the response.

OS = XP Pro SP3.

I tried your suggestionof disabling https scanning in web shield…AND IT WORKED! WOW!

I’ve been playing with various combinations of settings and nothing worked to restore ability to view video…until NOW!

MUCH APPRECIATION for the suggestion! Thank you, Thank you…and THANK YOU! :slight_smile:

You’re welcome.
