problem removing bugbear-B

Avast both Home and Professional found yhis on my two systems. It could not be moved to the chest. I downloaded Avasts Virus cleaner and ran it, but on doing a new virus scan bugbear-B was still there.

What should I do?

I suggest:

  1. Clean your temporary files.
  2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  3. Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete them.
  4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  6. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

Hi gajrey24

Because Bugbear.B is a polymorphic worm (capable of changing itself to avoid detection), it makes a number of modifications to the systems it infects and manual removal is not recommended. If you are already infected with this worm, download and install any one of the following Bugbear.B removal utilities, such as Sophos’ disinfector (www.sophos.com/support/disinfection/bugbearb.html ) or Symantec’s W32.Bugbear.B@mm Removal Tool ( securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.bugbear.b@mm.removal.tool.html ). F-Secure also has a removal tool available via an FTP (File Transfer Protocol Site) at ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/f-bugbr.zip . Follow the on-screen instructions for whichever removal tool you decide to use,

Thanks for helping polunus… you’re precise, I’m generic… :-[

Win32:BugBear-B should be covered by avast! cleaner.

But does it work? I mean, is it able to cure and clean completely?
