I am currently replacing symantec server with avast on windows 2000 server sp 4, and have a few problems. I have had to reinstall the management software because of a mistake i made on a previous installation and now I get this message :
There was a problem starting the avast! Management service
Error: 1060
Have removed all registry values found for avast management, removed all old folder locations, and reinstalled correctly.
Any help would be great,
Thanks in advance.
ADNM was installed remotely though terminal services, and avast server was installed locally. The reinstall was due to an error when it tried to install the data base.
Was reading another post by KMH and he had the same problem i had, which is why i reinstalled: error while installing msde. Found that the registry contained an old instance of sql services and was conflicting with the install. So i removed all registry settings for sql and reinstalled adnm and mdse completed with no errors.
But now it wont start…but the sql service manager shows it running
What you might try is go to Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs - > Avast Management Tools → Change/Remove and use the “Repair” command (from the icon list on the left).
That should theoretically reregister the services.
tried the repair and same problem. Whent ahead and reinstalled avast server and adnm after removing all registry values for avast. Everything is working great now, thanks for the help
