Problem statrting avast

I am using Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I just installed the home edition of Avast 4.6. Avast scanned the boot drive okay. However, it didn’t start. I received a message saying ashBase.dll was not found.

Could the down load have been corrupted or is there another problem?
