Problem updating to v 4.8.1335

I have encountered a problem with updating to v 4.8.1335, a pop up stated that an error occurred during download and now if I attempt to download the latest version I get a pop up telling me that I am already up to date but in the ‘About Avast!’ it states that I have version 4.8.1296 installed. In the log file under Error there are numerous entries which state AAVM: scanning error: FATAL - NOT ENOUGH DATA GOT FROM ASYMC. Is removing/reinstalling Avast my only option to correct this problem?

Please try the Repair operation.
Control panel → Add/Remove programs → avast! antivirus → Change/Remove → Repair.

Many thanks Vlk that got it sorted in seconds and all is now fine. I had forgotten that there is a repair function under the Change/Remove entry for Avast! in Control Panel Add/Remove programs - which goes to show that I normally don’t have any problems with Avast!
