Problem w/Avast 5.0 not starting

I downloaded Avast 5.0 and in the current status box says “Unsecured” and when I push FIX NOW it won’t. I’ve run newest ver. of CCleaner. Read another post which said to “open/expand the section” but don’t know how to do that? I hope somebody can help because I have no protection. Novice with computer so please make it simple. :cry:

Windows XP Media Center, Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz, 1.99 GB RAM, Firefox, AdBlock Plus and have added Avast as an exception, allowed Avast to install add-ons in case that was the problem.

Control panel, add/remove programs, change/remove Avast - there’s an option to repair the installation. Try that.

Repair didn’t help.

I am having the same problem in Windows XP Media Center, SP3. I have updated, repaired, rebooted, uninstalled, reinstalled. Nothing is working.
