problem when i want to send an infected file in "quarantaine"

Hello,

First, excuse me for my very poor english.

I’m install avast for linux home edition (1.3.0) (french version)
VPS version is 90309-0, 09.03.2009

my computer is an asus notebooks f3sa with 3MB of memory, an intel centrino, an ati radeon HD2600, and an asa disk 250GB.

I’m Ubuntu 8.10

I lanch avast with avastgui (first with my account, second with the account root because i can’t scan every directory (path ?))

avast found infected files in a vista partition >:(

i want to send this files : hibern.sys and the other memory file in c:\ (/mnt/vista for ubuntu) to quarantaine.

avast ask to me if i want delete all, delete or send to quarantaine.

i click to “send to quarantaine”

avast never respond and i can kill it.

The files with virus are deleted from original place and i never found its in quarantaine.

If you are any questions, i try to reply to you.
please, ask me in “baby” english or better in french

regards

joel

Hi,

The files were too large to send to quarantine.

hibern.sys is the hibernation memory file- 3GB!

These detections can be false positives- not real viruses.

It’s probably best to ignore any detections in these very large memory files.

They are simply overwritten the next time you hibernate your computer anyway.

Maybe a false positive of that memory files, but it will be good to scan you Windows installation with avast at boot time.

Hi,

Thank you for your answers.

I’ve an another question : How can i close this topic ?

regards

Joel
