Whole thing is abot settings in mail client itself. Before it was routed through localhost,but its not requred anymore. Just enter all POP3/SMTP info as if you were not using avast!.

If helps to ‘debug’, version 4.5 correctly changed the email settings in Outlook Express only in case of non spam utility were used.
In Thunderbird, nothing happens well. I have to manually configurate it again.

If you read the entire thread you will see that it is needed to set it through localhost with the Opera mail client. That is what this is all about. It shouldn’t be, but it is

Updated to 4.5.495, sofar it is working like it should. Seems that at least this problem is fixed. Well done.

The original beta was build 494. Today, it has been updated to 495.

The auto update doesn’t seem to be working in 4.5 Pro
I currently have 4.5.495 and read in another thread that there is a newer version out. (4.5.497)
Updates are set to automatic and computer has been on since this morning.???
Everything else is just fine.

autoupdated to 497 fine … it was just taking way too long (probably overloaded server :slight_smile: …

I even tried rebooting the system and still can’t get it to do auto update.
I know I can do it manually but, that’s not the idea. :cry:

Bob, this is actually by design.

Version 4.5 has been modified in the sense that program updates (unlike VPS updates) are distributed slower. Namely, during a period of one week (7 days).

This feature has been implemented to avoid congestion of our servers. Say update 4.1->4.5 will have almost 2 megs. With the current number of avast users we wouldn’t be able to supply such a bandwidth in such a short time. Distributing the update evenly over a longer time period will help us mitigate the server load (and provide smoother update to everyone).

Of course, this does not apply to VPS updates that are delivered always on time (but are orders of magnitune smaller).

?? What do you mean technical? Which error(s) do you have in mind, exactly?
