Problem with attachment

Greetings all. First time here in the forum, and I’m sorry for my bad english. I have just updated my Avast to 4.5.523 and VPS 0447.0 and I can’t send mail with attachment. I can download my incoming mail and I can send mail without attachment, but I’m not able to send mail with any kind of attachment. I’m using OE6: I checked the settings and all are good to go, but the same problem happens also with Thunderbird.
I think it’s an Avast! problem because when the mail provider is off everything work ok.
I use ZA like firewall and I also try to shut down this program, but if the Avast! mail provider is enable the problem goes on.
Is there anybody who could help me?
P.S.: I am running Windows XP HE 2002 Versione, no SP2, AMD Athlon XP2000+ with 240 MB ram.

Hi,
perhaps this thread gives You some hints how to solve it:

Thank you Peter. I look the tread and I changed Avast!'s settings how indicated by Sasha … but it isn’t the solution for my problem.
After update to 4.5.523 version it’s impossible to send and receive large mail (more than 10 KB).
See you.

Is this only a problem with outbound mail? Or inbound mail as well?
I.e. can you receive emails of any size?

Thanks
Vlk

Hi Vlk and thank you for your help.
I try to send a 20 Kb mail with attachment and another 60Kb without attachment and the result is the same: it’s impossible to send them if Avast! mail provider is switched on.
At the same time I have received three mails (6Kb - 17 Kb - 28 Kb - no attachments) and all works fine (it appears also an Avast! message of scanning mail in the low part of OE window - before it didn’t appear). But when I try to receive a 120 Kb OE is not able to do it.
Just another thing: I use an email notifier (Magic 2.9) … is this a problem?
See you
