I just purchased and installed Avast Internet Security. I had some initial problems with the install, but, now everything seems to be working fine EXCEPT the automatic update feature. I keep getting messages that auto update is unable to activate. PLUS, on the summary page, it shows my version is out of date (version 120713-0). However, when I go to the update page, it says that version is up-to-date (though it shows a date of July 13). I am concerned that my viruses are not the latest. It appears that my AOL account may have been hacked. But, except for sending out some bogus e-mails, I have not experienced any [problems. I am running Windows Vista, do not have any other anti-virus or firewwall. Does anyone have any ideas?
You could try running a repair via programs and features to see if that helps, double click avast in programs and features then click on repair - once completed reboot and see if your able to update the def’s
craigb, where do I find programs and features? I’ve looked all over.
windows controllpanel…
For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow
Pondus, thanks! Yes, that did the trick. I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to find the repair button in avast! Took all of 5 minutes to rectify the situation. Thanks to both craigb and you. Mike
