Several users of AVAST and AVG have recently found that they have no sound in the 64bit version of Dovetail Games’ Train Simulator Classic. The problem has been traced to AVAST and AVG. If AVAST is put into Passive Mode or is totally uninstalled, the sound returns. Turning off the AVAST shields manually or making the whole of the Train Simulator folder an exception under AVAST does not help.
Thanks for that iatimers, I put Avast into passive mode as you suggested and the audio in TSC 64 bit has returned. I’ve spent DAYS trying to fix this problem, but thanks to you it’s all working again. :)N
Reported to Avast. Let’s see if that helps.
Hi, can you please send us logs from the affected device? The process is described here: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/submit-support-file/
There’s no need to enter any ticket number during the process. Once you generate the logs, let us know the “File ID” of the generated logs.
I’ve run the support tool and the FileID is H3YUM
Hi @latimers, thank you for sending the logs. We just released a fix to the beta channel. Can you please check if the problem is resolved there?
To switch to beta, simply download the beta setup and install it over your existing Avast installation. The links for the beta can be found in this Topic: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=325340.0
Just to make the user aware that changing back from beta requires a clean install of Avast.
I did clean install of the program version 23.10.6086 Build 23.10.8563.701 with definitions 231106-2 and the Train Simulator 64 bit sounds are back. Didn’t need to check the beta version.
Hi @latimers, thank you for checking this. In the meantime, we also released the fix into the current version 23.10, which seems to have worked for you.
Btw, it should be enough to restart the computer to apply the fix. There’s no need to reinstall the program anymore.
I have similar issue.
Installed Avast Updater, updated to recommended drivers and lost sound completely in my laptop Dell XPS 9700 on Windows 11. Reverted back to previous drivers but still no sound. Asked Avast support, he spend over an hour, to no avail. He said he would escalate and send me email with follow up but never received it.
Still no sound, avast doesn’t have solution for their product issue which I can see exists for over 2 years now.
Please provide me fix if you can?
I suggest you start your own topic and explain in detail what the problem is and what you’ve tried to do to fix it.
It’s not related to this problem since Avast apparently resolved the problem with an update (fix).
