Problem with Avast Internet Security 5 on Win XP SP3

Hi,
I have PC with Windows XP SP3 also Zemana and Comodo firewall on my PC but they shouldnt be a problem.
Now on the problem - before I used Avast 4 free edition and i was glad of it.
Then I bought new Avast Internet Security 5 and installed it but after installation when I clicked on start menu button it couldn’t show up windows menu .This bug is only when i have Avast Internet Security 5 installed!
After uninstall and reinstall i have again the same problem with start button (may be because of behaviour shield) and even now I cant enable Avast 5 with my license key no matter if i install it custom or other way!

There is written Unsecured with red and i cant enable Avast Internet Security 5! :-[

Please help.

AIS has AV and firewall.
Comodo is a firewall and HIPS and AV
Zemana has HIPS as part of the system protection component.

It sure as hell will cause conflicts! Uninstall Comodo altogether from your box.

This bug has already been fixed.
Download the latest build here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=59223.30
Also, you shouldn’t use 2 firewalls (AIS/CIS) or 2 HIPS software as doktornotor already stated.

Thank you
I disabled both Zemana and Comodo and after many uninstalls and reinstalls I managed to install latest build first.
And now Zemana , Comodo and AIS 5 are working together without any collisions!

Best Regards!

They may be running without visible conflicts now. That doesn’t mean that they’ll continue to run like that forever. Furthermore, it actually makes you less secure, not more. Once some malware lands on your box, you can get into a deadlock where the above combo will be racing to block and clean it and none of those applications may be able to do it b/c the other overlapping one prevents it from access.

Running two firewalls, two HIPS and two antivirus solutions on the same box is extremely bad idea. The following are sane suggestions to follow that won’t cause overlaps, won’t make things fighting with each other and should make your system run safely and smoothly:

  • Install avast free
  • Install CIS w/ firewall and D+ only, no AV
  • Install Zemana, disable the system protection component

or

  • Install avast free
  • Install CIS w/ firewall only, no AV or D+
  • Install Zemana, leave the system protection component enabled

or

  • Install AIS
  • Do NOT install Comodo
  • Install Zemana, leave the system protection component enabled

Now situation is:
1.Comodo is working only as firewall cuz i have it from long time ago and i dont want to make new settings and rules on AIS firewall
2.AIS 5 is installed without firewall component (on new windows installation i think to install full AIS 5)
3.Zemana is fully compatible (so claim from Zemana which main purpose is antikeylogger)with AIS 5 ,but if your advice is to disable Zemana system defense in order to prevent any further conflicts with AIS 5 then I’ll do this.

I greatly appreciate your assistance.

And the point of this would be? Could have installed free avast AV and save yourself a lot of potential problems…

You’re welcome…!
