problem with avast v.4.6 home edition

I have been logging my tale of woe, and requesting help but not really getting my problem resolved. Today I took my computer to my learn direct technician who diagnosed a virus, as the computer is brand new and everything had been loaded without problem, he said what had I downloaded from the website I replied only Avast, he said well thats where its come from, this seems worrying as you are an anti virus program provider and it has completely crashed my computer, he has had to take it home as it is too complex to remedy quickly. I feel very strongly that your site should be screened to ensure it is clean and safe for others to use. I have to say although I have used it on my former computer without a hitch, I am loathe to risk a repeat of the distress I have suffered since last Friday.
I will be interested in your comment and response.

I’m not saying your technician has a faulty diagnose, but I wonder if it’s correct.
Could you post some more info on your system: what OS, what other programs installed ?
Avast! definitely contains no virus, nor does this website so something isn’t as he says it is.

Thats OK I’ll say it, your technician made a faulty diagnoses and is probably taking you for a ride. The best avast! techs are here, avast! nor its site has a virus.

Better get your PC back from that person

I’ve been thinking: since it is a brandnew pc, I sure hope it didn’t came with another av pre-installed like Norton ?
Because this would explain a lot of the symptoms.

The way i understood that post is that the technician told her alwil have a virus on their web site so i think alwil should sue that technician’s ass haha ;D

You posted the following: “I have to say although I have used it on my former computer without a hitch” should tell you that maybe your problem is not related to Avast at all.

You also posted the following: “I have been logging my tale of woe”

As others have posted more info would help.

As far as your tech is concerned: he asked you what you have downloaded and when you said “only Avast” I think you must realize that he is obviosly making an unfounded assumption that if this was the ONLY web site you downloaded from, then the presumed virus (if infact that is your problem) on your computer had to have come from that download presumably.

For one thing viruses can be acquired by many other ways than from a downloadd. So if you actually do have a virus which has caused your problems it hasn’t necessarily come from this download. Secondly if your tech makes the claim that a virus was downloaded I would suggest you ask him what is the virus that is presumably on your computer ? Also ask him how would he know that the virus came form this download ?

I think that you need to view your “tech” with at least some amount of skepticism and ask a few more questions, rather than to just simply take his word as “gospel”.
