I have installed and updated Avast 4.8 in my computer. Whenever I plug a usb driver I get the following message:
A virus has been detected : Malware-gen, located on K:\autorun.inf.
I have selected all of the options and tried them but keep getting the same message, even after deleting the virus and/or cleaning it.
We also did a boot scan but and no viruses were found. Finally, we placed the set the hard drive as a slave with Windows XP and Norton 2008 which detected the IRC Troyan virus located on the hard drive at: F:\recyc ler\s-1-5-21…\spoolsv.exe. The virus was cleaned but when the usb driver was reconnected to the computer it started showing again.
I would apreciate your help regarding this matter.
[*] Download Flash Drive Disinfector and save it to your desktop.
[*] Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
[*] The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
[*] Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
[*] Reboot your computer when done.
[*] Note: Flash Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don’t delete this folder… it will help protect your drives from future infection.
Thank you for answering my problem.
I have followed the procedure described by you and after executing the antivirus flash it creates a folder in my usb memory device and the message does not show up again…however, when I take my usb memory device into another computer where Norton 2008 is installed it detects the IRC Troyan virus at the path: f:\recycler\s-1-5-21…\spoolsv.exe.
Can you please help me find a definite solution to this virus problem….
Thank you
Norton is protecting that file on Recycle bin.
Can you clean (really empty) the Recycle bin within Norton? Or even excluding all files into that folder (F:\recycler\s-1-5-21…).
