Most probably, your firewall is blocking ashWebSv.exe the WebShield from avast…
Which firewall do you use?

What version of avast are you using, now there has been another program update, 4.7.986 ?

Do a manual program update if you haven’t got this yet, update, reboot and test again.

I use kerio firewall.

I check - it’s ok. Browser starts normally, but some parts of www I can’t see…

I’ve got the newest one (4.7.986)

Kerio blocks adds and other parts of the webpage.

No, it’s free version without ad-blocker.

The problem is for example with: www.ae.krakow.pl - I can’t see and use the manu on the right hand of this page. Could you see (and use it?)

Did you finish the trial period?

What is ‘manu’ ?

I’m terrible sorry - should be “menu”.

Yes, I finish trial period of Kerio for ages ago.

At your screenshot I don’t see this menu (white block on the right), too. Strange…

At my wife computer it works perfect (Avast Home)

The same problem I’ve got with www.avast.com - it can’t display the menu on the left the serach box (top of page).

No problem displaying avast.com either with firefox or IE6.

But, the right hand menu doesn’t display in either firefox or IE6 for ae.krakow.pl . I even tried with the Web Shield terminated so there should be no interaction by avast and it still didn’t display.

So we are three for three not being able to display the right hand menu, there may be a problem with the page.

Using avast 4.7.986, but Home edition, with Webshield running the menu does display for me:

Alwil site is ok for me…

Hello again,

I repair avast installation in Control Panel>… (I hope it can solve the problem mentioned above) and now my browser doesn’t work at all. After openinig IE 7 it automatically shutdown.

Could someone help me? Please!

Are you clean? Maybe some infection is avoiding the browser to load…
avast shouldn’t have (and haven’t) this behavior.
Are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a Boot Time Scanning?

Click on the Menu button.
Choose Schedule Boot Time Scan.
Doing so displays a dialog allowing you to schedule virus scanning.
Check Archives, if you want scan all the archives.
Specify whether all the disks or just a specific folder should be scanned.
Select Advanced options for scheduling details.
Select how to automatically process infected files.
Choose how to automatically process infected system files.
Click the Schedule button to confirm the settings.

Thanks a lot for reply, Tech.

I don’t think my computer was infected by virus, because I use avast over 4 years (I scheduled a Boot Time Scanning month ago).

I try to start Avast (I click on the blue ball icon on the desktop), but after checking memory and autostart (without any problems), the avast shutdown - it’s crazy!

where is the problem? what should I do?

I’d be grateful for all your suggestions.

Schedule a boot time scanning again…
Just run:
C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4\sched.exe /A:*

Sorry, but I can’t do it… :-[

Why, is it because it doesn’t work or you don’t know how ?

If the latter, try this.
Click the windows Start button, Run and paste the path Tech gave ‘C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4\sched.exe /A:*’ without the quotes into the Open: window and click OK.

I still a little bit lamer in computers, but finally I do boot scan ;D. Avast don’t find any virus.

After reboot, I try to start Avast (I click on the blue ball icon on the desktop), but after checking memory and autostart (without any problems), the avast shutdown!
