I recently tried to install a new Epson WF 4830 printer. The printer would not complete the setup sequence from the setup disc but all the drivers appeared to be installed. All my applications printed by Wi-Fi OK except those I developed with Lazarus/Free Pascal where Widows throws up an error.
I finally realised that Avast had kicked one of the Epson exe files into Quarantine first time I tried to print a Lazarus file. I restored the file and did a ‘Scan selected items for viruses’ and it got a clean bill of health. However, when I tried to print, it immediately put the file back into quarantine citing IDP.Generic.
How do I resolve this impasse? I am lothe to put an Exception on it till I am sure it’s OK.
I can’t send a copy of this file as I have flipped this file in and out of quarantine so many times that Avast now refuses to restore it so I can copy it to upload.

You should be able to upload it from quarantine if you still have a copy of it in the quarantine ?
I have already done that but wasn’t aware of any mechanism by which I would be informed of the result - no details were taken (to my knowledge
)
The file is E_YARNXIE.exe
Avast has just let me restore the file but this forum won’t let me attach it.

Test the file at VT (https://www.virustotal.com) and post the link to the result here.
Link is

I had already tested the file at virustotal and got the all negative result. However, my biggest worry was that I had run ‘Scan selected items for viruses’ and this had OKed the file but it then “found” a problem when I tried to print. I wasn’t sure why this would be so but was a bit dubious about trusting implicitly sites that only looked at the code.
I note that the file name is not the same as I uploaded ???
Hi, the file is ok, report it here: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php
