I was trying to uninstall Avast free 17.4 using Safe Mode and then install Avast free 17.7.2314. The old laptop runs Windows 7 and is using a display screen resolution of 1280x720 so the buttons at the bottom of the GUI are out pf sight and out of reach, both in Safe Mode and normal mode. Eventually, I unlocked the task bar and moved it to the side of the screen and the buttons became just about visible and clickable and I could then proceed. I had tried moving the GUI up the screen but it just flipped back. I see that the GUI is not resizable.
It would be good if the dev team could look at this technically trivial issue. It is not trivial however if it prevents an uninstall or install from being performed.
This has been my hobby horse for many years now and the silence from Avast has been deafening.
The total reluctance by Avast to allow the screen to be user resizeable is beyond belief. That or make it small enough to support smaller screen resolutions. Or allow for scrolling bars to access all areas of the window.
1280x700 isn’t the lowest screen resolution being used either.
My Acer Aspire One netbook, Win7 Starter (32bit) 10.1", 1024X600 screen makes 1280x700 look positively massive.
