I have a problem with the multiple smtp accounts feature of avast.
I did the setup according to the help file and according to posts on this board. And it works fine for all of my mail accounts except for one.
I have no clue, what the problem could be. Some of the accounts that work fine require smtp authentication, some don’t.
The one account that doesn’t work requires smtp authentication.
I set it up just like the others (username#smtpserver) but get this error message when trying to send a message: “535 Authentication failed ; This is the error that resulted during the SMTP LOGIN Authentication”.
I’m sure the password is correct, since I can send emails if I restore the original account setting, without ever having touched the password.
Just a thought: doesn’t the server that’s not working require SSL (i.e. encrypted) authentication? avast can not work with such accounts (by definition)…
Otherwise I assume you’re setting it all correctly. Maybe a look into the ashMaiSv log file could reveal something suspicious (I’m not sure whether it’s being generated by default, though).
I recall there was one problem with the latest version of ashMaiSv.exe. I’m not exactly sure what it was though- I guess we’ll have to wait for vojtech to clarify this tomorrow (it’s 10:25pm here in Europe and he’s not online - can you believe it? ;D)
