Problem with Password app

I decided to try the password thing and wish I never had.

I got tired of constantly being asked for my Master password so I followed the link and went in and gave it my Master password – again – and it lit up and let me make choices.

I told it to only ask me once a week and clicked OK but every phuckin time I open the browser or a web page it asks for my Master Password again.

I can’t get it to stop.

I tried to uninstall it from Firefox but it does not show up in the list of plug-ins or any other kind of add-on — but it is still working.

I’ve shut down and done a cold restart – no help.

If I can’t get this to stop I am going to have to delete AVast completely and go to another virus program and I don’t want to do that but I WILL NOT PUT UP WITH THIS.

What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
What browser and version ?

Windows 10

Firefox ver 44.02

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?

Avast Premier
Program version: 11.1.2253
Virus definitions version: 160214-1
Nuber of definitions 3.250.250

You need to enter the password after each computer reboot. If that doesn’t work for you,
you can remove the Password Manager through Control Panel, Program and Features, select Avast select modefy.
Next uncheck Passwords.Once the change has been made, reboot the system.

Thank you Bob3160

I had tried every option available but not matter what I selected every time I opened a web page the password gizmo would come up.

Made no difference which option I selected.

I just followed your instructions and… so far … haven’t had that come up again — YET

And, of course, I’m using the brower right now so hopefully all will be well again.

don’t know what went wrong. Now that I know how to get rid of it I may try it again when Windows 10 is finalized. Using Insider edition(s) now.

Entering the password each time you boot your system has nothing to do with Windows 10.
That’s the way the PW MGR currently works.
