Problem with receiving updates

hi

first of all, thanks for the free antivirus, saves me a lot of tech support time for the family :slight_smile:

recently I’ve noticed that avast isn’t receiving updates anymore (databases or program) when done through the program, I have to download them and apply manually , which is far from convenient

I live in syria, most of the people I know are located here as well, and a good antivirus is an important thing these days to avoid any unwanted attacks from any side, but with no access to updates, this takes the edge away from the software

I can’t find anything about a ban for syria on the site, could this be something done on the ISP/government side here ?

welcome to the forum. are you using the latest version 7.0.1456? any other security programs on your computer like a third party firewall?

what os you using? what was your previous antivirus program before avast and how did you install it?

we need this information if we’re gonna be able to help you to the best.

I know that recently avast have had to enforce a US Government sanction on support of certain countries, this was highlighted in recent posts where Iran IPs weren’t able to update avast.

I don’t know if Syria is included in that list of countries.

I’m speaking as an avast user here, I’m not an avast employee.
