Whatever version was available for download at time of my previous post, September 6th.
Now I just did the whole thing again. Used the clean to remove the previous install, then downloaded the latest full package from the Avast website, then installed. But this time something went differently, and the whole page looks different, and now it says I’m registered for 3 years?:
Now you know why I asked those questions. Something wasn’t right.
The clean install took care of the problem and you should now be fine. (At least for the next 3 years. )
The only difference between this install and the previous a month ago (in addition to the version) was, that previously I had removed Avast by using Windows’ own “remove program” -tool and only after that I used the Avast cleaner. Now I used the cleaner straight away.
I’m guessing this meant that the cleaner was able to find some more tidbits to remove that had previously been left unnoticed and subsequently broke the fresh install earlier into a sort of an update.
