Im having problem in creating restore point or even automatic restore point. Done every solution I found in the net but non of them works. Some says must be the firewall or the anti virus. I uninstalled AIS v 6.0.1203 then tried creating restore point and suddenly the restore point works. I also tried installing norton internet security 2011 and still creating restore points works. I uninstalled norton and re-install AIS,creating restore point by avast works. After complete installation I restarted my pc then I tried creating again a manual restore points but again it failed creating. I read a thread regarding this in this forum and I think there is a problem with Avast.
Did you use a removal tool to delet the leftovers of norton before installing avast ? removal tools are to be used in normal mode after first removing the said program via remove programs
removed it with revouninstaller pro.
Best you use the proper uninstall tool for the job as revo does not do an efficient job with security software.
I noticed the problem about restore point with AIS installed. That is the reason why i uninstalled AIS to check if the restore point work and it works after removing AIS. The reason I tried installing NIS is to check if an antivirus is the one creating the problem but after installing NIS the restore point in working very well so I removed again NIS to isolate the problem and intaleed again AIS and after installing AIS, I encounterd again problem in creating restore point.
My computer makes automatic (planned) restore points every day but today I noticed that the last point was made 4 days ago. I have the latest Avast Free and I think that the problem with creating the points is somewhere in virus database updates.
I think there is definitely a problem with the updates. I hope Avast will do something about it because has a very good reputation.
That’s exactly the point, where a proper sig would help.
ASUS Notebook X51RLseries; Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2370; 2 Gb RAM; 141 Gb HDD; Vista Home Basic SP2 32-bit.
Avast Free Antivirus 6.0.1203; Windows 7 Firewall Control; SpywareTerminator 2.8.2.192.
Hmmm…
You have a Vista system with W7 FW control…??
W7FC is the new name of Vista Firewall Control. It works on XP, Vista and W7.
Any error message…??
Nothing.
I tested it on XP and 7, no problems here.
Sorry, no Vista to test it with.
If system restore creation is failing, isn’t there a message in the event log ?

Today a planned restore point was created successfully. The virus database version is 20110725-0. I haven’t had planned restore points for 5 days.
