problem with scan after previous update

Today I checked one of my computers running xp pro sp3 running avast free 5.0.677 and noticed that when it did a scan today it could not scan everything and the files it could not scan were avast files. I also checked my windows 7 home premium computer that also has Avast free and it did a scan yesterday and same thing. I happen to be on 2 client computers who run the same version today and they had scans done yesterday and the exact same files are showing up.
I am attaching a picture so you can see what is happening.
Why can’t avast find these files since they are part of your updates?

here is another pic so you can see what i am talking about

and here it is spread out so you can see it is part of avast, because the first one is not

You can not run MSE at the same time as avast! as it will conflict.

Stick to Windows Defender on Windows 7 and I would not run Windows Defender on XP.

Nothing to worry about, these are files in an old virus definitions folder, periodically avast will clear these old folders (they are almost exact copies, less the incremental updates since the last update) and they are around 48MB so avast has to do some periodic housekeeping or the disk would become full.

It just so happened that this was done whilst a scan was going on.

where did you get the idea i run MSE at the same time as Avast. I know you cannot run 2 antivirus programs at the same time. Besides I never said i had 2 on the same computer. I have 7 computers. I run Avast on 2 and the rest MSE. The computer that has this problem only has avast.

My signature says i have several computers

ok thanks david I was just concerned why it was skipping these files especially since it is its own files, and why i saw it on so many other computers.
