I have several email accounts and I use Mozilla Thunderbird to access them all. Earlier today, after adding a new account, I started getting an error message when trying to receive new mail, saying that an error had occurred with the POP3 mail server.
Some rudimentary Google-fu suggested that the problem lay with Avast and its Mailshield settings, and that setting encryption to ‘none’ on the Mailshield settings would resolve the issue.
It did, but only temporarily. Avast is resetting the encryption on that account to TLS each time T-bird retrieves mail. When that failed, I tried removing the account from Avast entirely, but it gets added back onto the list each time, and has its encryption set to TLS again.
Any help would be appreciated.
