Problem with windows update (XP3) after update Avast Pro 5.0.418

Hello,
after update the program Avast Pro to 5.0.418, i can’t use Windows Update. I have an error 0x8007013D
I know it’s a problem with this version of the program. I had not this problem before with ancien program.
Do you have an idee about ?

Ps : Sorry i’m french, i have some difficultes with english.

Try to uninstall avast and update your windows …
if works, then install fresh copy of avast! …

No, don’t.
You can’t uninstall avast every time you want to update something in Win.

Does update work if you disable the shields?

I mean maybe he didn’t install avast correctly at first time

That is possible.

Did you update from avast 5 free, from avast 4.8?

Windows Update never work even if shields are disabled.
The first install come from a new install from a download files from avast.com (pro version). It works with this version but when i update to the 5.0.418, problem.

So, i uninstall Avast 5.0.418. I delete files from program files et application data.
I reboot.
I install the dowmload files Avast Pro 5.
It’s the version 5.0.396. I can use Windows Update.
I reboot.
And i have my problem again (in version 5.0.396)

What is the problem with Avast Pro 5 (i have the licence)?

I don’t know, but why you install v5.0.396 and upgrade to v5.0.418?

Did you try to install fresh copy of v5.0.418 ?..

Well, there is nothing wrong actually.
It works on my system without problems.

Let’s see. I presume there is no other security software on your pc (norton, symantec, zonealarm firewall etc…) nor has been installed before? If there is or was: run the specific uninstallers that can be downloaded somewhere on their websites.

then:

Go to avast.com and download the latest version.
also download aswclear5 from here: http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

then:

uninstall your current version
boot to safe mode
run aswclear5
boot
delete all alwil-folders that might be left over
install the newest version you downloaded (5.0.418)
boot

Yes, also i’m using avast! PRO since it was BETA2 without single error on my Windows 7 …

anyway, try to install latest version v5.0.418 :

English Version:
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_pro_eng.exe

French Version :
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_pro_fre.exe

Ok.
I did what Zyndstoff said.
After installation, i try windows update. Perfect ! It works !
So i reboot to be sure and after reboot, problem with windows update (always the same)
On reboot, there is a modification of my system because of Avast. Why ?
It’s a Acer Travelmate 5730

Ahhh… Acer… I think I remember something about acer…
Not sure, but please be a little patient until one of the devs reads this thread.
You might want to search for “Acer” on this forum.
Your problem will sure be saved, but be patient, please.

I brought your case to the developers attention. Please wait just a little more.

Thanks
Zyndstoff

Thanks ! I will be patient.

The previous issue related to Acer drivers is unrelated (and even if it was related, it was fixed already).

A few questions:

  • is the problem happening only with automatic updates, or also with manual updates?
  • are you using WSUS?

Thanks
Vlk

Actually, my problem is with manual update. I had not use automatic update for the moment.
I don’t use WSUS because i dont’ know what it is.
