Problem with WMA:Wimad[susp] Removal

Hey everybody,

I was recently torrenting a film but became suspicious when I noticed a slow download rate.

I stopped the torrent at 17% leaving a partially complete .avi and a .tmp file in my download folder.

When I tried to delete the .avi it told me it was being used by another program despite having been deleted from my torrenting program. At this point I deleted the .tmp file and then tried to delete the .avi again.

At this point I received a warning from Avast’s P2P shield that a suspicious file had been rejected.

Both the .avi and the .tmp files were now gone from my download folder but neither of them are in my recycling bin. I assumed Avast had moved them to the chest but the virus chest is empty and my P2P shield log contains the following message, “Error: The system can not find the file specified (2)”

Scans with Avast and Malwarebytes have both produced nothing and I have not noticed anything unusual apart from the disappearance of my network icon in my task bar.

Is my computer infected?

Thanks in advance for your help.

was the torrent program still up and running ?
I assumed Avast had moved them to the chest.....
only Malware files...and suspicious is not the same as malware

since you stopped it at 17% i would guess that what you got down was a none working malware…if it was malware at all

If you think you may have something…
follow this guide, attach the logs and essexboy will have a look when he arrive

Bit Torrent was still running but I had cancelled and deleted the particular torrent file at 17% which would normally allow me to delete the incomplete .avi file.

I’m also curious as to why the .avi and .tmp files seem to have vanished without going through my recycle bin.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll follow the guide now.
